Relationship and Couples Counselling

Every couple argues. But there is a difference between disagreement and the kind of repetitive conflict that leaves both partners feeling unheard, exhausted, or alone, even when they are in the same room.

When communication has broken down, when trust has been damaged, or when you feel more like roommates than partners, it is not a sign that the relationship has failed. It is a signal that something needs to change, and that change is difficult to achieve alone.

How Couples Counselling Works

Couples therapy with Prof Knight is not about taking sides. It is about understanding the dynamic between you. Most relationship conflict is not really about the surface issue. It is about unmet needs, old wounds, and patterns that both partners bring from their own histories.

In a safe and structured space, these patterns become visible. And once they are visible, they can begin to shift. Therapy helps couples to hear each other differently, to communicate with greater honesty, and to reconnect with what drew them together in the first place.

Who Is This For?

This service is for couples at any stage: those in crisis and those who simply feel distant. Prof Knight works with couples from all backgrounds and life orientations, including LGBTQ couples. Both partners need to be willing to attend. Couples therapy works when both people are open to examining their own contribution to the difficulty, not only their partner's.

What to Expect

Sessions take place at the N.H.C Health Centre in Honeydew. The initial session focuses on understanding the relationship history and the specific concerns that have brought you in. From there, therapy is shaped around what the relationship needs.
